Gloria Englund is a published author and national speaker. For 23 years her previous business, LifeStyle Options, gave her the opportunity to coach hundreds of people on how to begin and develop their own successful home-based business.
Her decision to become a Recovery Coach and to write a book for those who lost a loved one to addiction was inspired by her relationship with her oldest son, Aaron, who died in May 2007 after a 20 year struggle with addiction. She believes this relationship has been the cornerstone of her lesson about how to detach with love and compassion.
Although the majority of her recovery has centered around how her relationships with other people affect her life, most recently she has explored her own relationship with food and also seeks support and recovery in that area of her life. Gloria has been in recovery for over 29 years.
Gloria received her B.S.in English from the University of Nebraska and her M.A. in Human Development from St. Mary’s University. She has completed her first year of spiritual direction training and is a graduate of the Recovery Coach Academy at Minnesota Recovery Connection.
When she is not at work, she loves hiking on the North Shore of Minnesota with her husband and friends. Writing, reading, cooking and traveling are also high on her priority list as well as spending time with her family. Travels to China and a 14 day Mediterranean cruise have been her most memorable trips thus far.
Gloria also enjoys being involved in the recovery community. She volunteers at Minnesota Recovery Connection as well as speaks on various recovery topics for churches, treatment centers and recovery groups. Please see Recovery Speaking Topics. She and her husband, Bob, along with another couple from their church, Mayflower United Church of Christ, began a recovery support ministry. http://www.mayflowermpls.org/
